postcards from the middle

dubious but bylined!

troutgirl and i were talking the other day, and figured out that the real currency for journalists is a byline.

that means that i got paid in gold by usaToday

and it means that i'd work for free at the chronicle. i miss working at a newspaper so much. daily.

Jaysus, Irina, don't give Frank Vega any ideas!

Congrats on the byline! Wanna hear a sad story? I got contacted by Time about my pictures from the Current TV kickoff, but they were too low-res. However, I ran into my friend Matt Reamer at the time, and sent along his email. When she asked if any other press were there, I told her "I don't remember," which at the time was true, but now I realized that I may have subconsciously ignored the jerk from the Chron who I always run into.
